Westport Bowling Club is located on the Mid North Coast of NSW, overlooking the picturesque Hastings River just a 5-minute walk from the Port Macquarie CBD.
We have a great social bowls program and for those with that competitive spirit we run Club Championship events throughout the year and field a number of teams in the Bowls NSW Pennant Competition.

The inaugural meeting of the Grand United Port Macquarie West Bowling Club was held in the Council Chambers, Port Macquarie in early 1957 and was attended by Mr Bert Hamblen and Mr Ted Barrett of the Grand United Order of Oddfellows who informed the meeting that the Lodge had money available to support the formation of a Bowing Club.
Through the efforts of Mr George Bale, an Alderman on the Council at that time, another meeting was called at which a pro-tem Committee was formed to start a new club.
The first pro-tem Committee consisted of George Bale, President: Harry White, Secretary and Ian Austin Treasurer. Committee members were Clem Marks, Ted Marks, Bob McMullen, Dudley Bale, Frank Brooks, Bill Dunnachie, Jach McFadyen, Dr Nichol McLaren and Arch Toms.
After two hard frustrating years, the Club was finally opened by Mr Abby Cairns, Vice President of the Royal NSW Bowling Association on 3 October 1959. The total cost of the project – new Bowls Club and 2 excellent greens – was $34,000.
One of the initial challenges for the inaugural Committee was obtaining 100 members which the Club had to have to obtain a licence. this necessitated taking in some women members to obtain the required number. Two application to the Licensing Court were necessary before a license was granted on 13 August 1959 for a Liquor License and Poker Machine License.
